Calling All NGENers -
Help beat last years NGEN Charity Cup fundraising record

Dial up your competitive streak, hone your ball-dodging skills and start planning fund-raising activities – the NGEN Charity Cup is coming up!

This is an unmissable event for the NGEN community. But don’t just take it from us. Here’s what NGEN Melbourne Committee Co-Chair Jasmyn Dawkins, Senior Partnerships Executive at Initiative, had to say about what makes this event so special.

“NGEN Charity cup is the perfect blend of teamwork and competition. It’s your chance to don a silly outfit, flex those competitive muscles, but also to contribute to something greater as an industry. You’ll get the opportunity to forge incredible bonds with people you perhaps haven’t worked with day-to-day, as well as meeting plenty of new faces across agency and media owner groups. Whether you’re an avid dodgeball fan or a sideline cheerleader, mark it in your calendar now as this is not one to be missed!”

Held as a dodgeball tournament in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, NGEN Charity Cup is now in its 10th year and it’s the perfect opportunity for NGENers to come together for a round of competitive fun, teamwork and networking with their peers, while also raising much-needed funds for youth charities. Talk about living up to our industry’s We Are The Changers purpose.

Can you help us beat last year’s record-breaker of $41,063 raised?

Our UnLtd Charity partner this year is Bravehearts, an Australian not-for-profit dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse through the provision of therapeutic counselling and support services, personal safety education programs, child protection training, research and lobbying.

The earlier you register, the more time you’ll have to organise an office-wide bake sale – or maybe a trivia night – and start selling raffle tickets for the amazing prizes we’re lining up.

If you’re an industry leader...

You can also get behind this important event through three key actions:

  1. Encouraging your NGENers to pull together a dodgeball team. Teams consist of 8 people. But don’t worry if you don’t have enough NGENers – let the NGEN team know and they’ll match you with another member company. If you have more than 8, you’re welcome to submit more than one team. We can also accommodate spectators on the day!
  2. Encourage everyone in your agency to buy raffle tickets or even better, stake your team’s entry fee. ($500 per team in Sydney & Melbourne, $300 in Brisbane.)
  3. Help us out with raffle prizes! Got some cool client merch hanging about, or a corporate box you could donate for a game? The better the prizes, the more money our NGENers will raise! Email ngen@mediafederation.org.au if you have anything to donate.

Here’s what three other NGEN Co-Chairs had to say…

Kayla Kirby, Marketplace Associate Manager, EssenceMediacom

"Charity Cup is a must attend for all NGENers, especially first-comers. Get involved in helping your team fundraise, hold a bake sale or do a dress-up day in the office. There are a lot of ways to get creative with it! Get across the theme early and start planning your outfit. The more dressed up you get, the more fun you have – trust me.

At the event, make sure you actively engage with people outside of your usual circle. Chatting to publisher contacts and people from other agencies is a great way to get to know everyone in the industry!"

Annie Irvine, Investment Manager, Essencemediacom

"Join the NGEN Charity Cup to unite for a cause beyond our daily work! It's not just about winning; it's about harnessing our industry’s competitive spirit to make a real difference. Collaborate, strategise, and build camaraderie with peers, all while flexing your teamwork muscles.

You'll learn the power of collective effort, improve leadership skills, and experience firsthand how our industry's creativity can fuel positive change. Don't miss this chance to grow, give back, and be part of something bigger. Let's show the strength of our community and support those in need!"

Tania Teurquetil, Junior Strategist, Havas Media Network

"NGEN Charity Cup is an effective and accessible way to make a difference in society at large by raising much-needed funds for youth charities. It brings me great pride to know that we, as an industry, are taking the steps to make impactful change. I’m grateful to the MFA and NGEN for dedicating the time, the space and the event to support Bravehearts. Braveheart’s mission is to educate, empower and protect young Australians. I encourage all NGENers to get involved in this year’s NGEN Charity Cup in support of a wonderful organisation."
