2008 Pro Bono/Cause Marketing Incentive Winner

In recognition of Pam Lane

TITLE OMD: Giving Something Back
AGENCY OMD
CHARITY ASCA: Advocates of Survivors of Child Abuse

OBJECTIVES
OMD conducted a nationwide staff survey that found it is important for its people that their job and work life make a difference to society. In response, the agency formalised its strategic approach to corporate social responsibility.

CAMPAIGN
Firstly, OMD called for nominations for an agency “charity of choice” that could be supported on a more meaningful basis through pro bono work and regular fundraising. ASCA: Advocates for Survivors of Child Abuse was chosen.

Secondly, each staff member was given one day off per year to help a charity close to their heart. The initiative has seen staff spend time working with the Sydney Dogs and Cats Home, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the Red Cross Activities Room, and
Wesley Mission.

Thirdly, the agency pledged to continue supporting various charities through a program of donations and fundraising. Events and initiatives at the agency have included a Breast Cancer Breakfast, Gold Week raffle for the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Movember 2007, the World’s Greatest Shave 2007, the Manly 9km Soft Sand Run for Australian Red Cross and Run for the Kids for Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne.

RESULTS
OMD has donated $13,884 to various charities and has donated more than $100,000 through media purchases from charities from January 2007 to March 2008. In the past year OMD has also donated more than $27,300 to support its clients’ charities.
